Our Mission
The Sloth Institute (TSI)’s mission is to improve and advance the welfare of sloths through research on their behavioral ecology and habitat needs; as well as how to successfully re-integrate orphaned and injured sloths back into the wild, while promoting sloth conservation and education.
Open hours
The Sloth Institute is not open to the public. Sloths are not available to be seen at our facility, as it is in their best interest to have as little human contact as possible. If staying at Tulemar Resort, guests can sign up for a nature walk led by a TSI sloth expert, where sloths can be seen in their natural habitat.
What we do
TSI is a non-profit organization specializing in research and education with a particular focus on the behavior, health and welfare of recently released, wild and captive sloths. The Sloth Institute is not a sloth sanctuary. Read more about us on our About Us page.
